Chico, the seven-year-old Amazon bird, has been put on the bird equivalent of Prozac and is undergoing behavioural treatment to resolve its lovesick rage.

Owner Joyce Greenslade from Devon, Southern England, started to worry about Chico after the pet started pulling out her feathers when her husband Stephen came near it.

The parrot is jealous of Stephen’s relationship with Joyce, and now needs treatment with drug Haloperido.

Joyce said: “Chico started to believe we were partners and got very depressed. She screamed at me and started flying aggressively at Stephen and eventually it all became too much.”
