Cheryl Hines Defends Jesus Joke in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

Curb your criticisms – or at least that's what 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star Cheryl Hines says about the latest questions about the show's edgy humor.

"I haven't talked to him about it, but I am sure they probably shouldn't watch the show if it is going to offend them," Hines told Moviefone at Thursday's Ante Up for Africa event outside L.A., to benefit Darfur charities. "Because Larry [David] has skewered all kinds of subjects and himself. That's the nature of the show."

In last Sunday's episode of the famously provocative 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' on HBO, David urinates on a picture of Jesus, and a woman believes the picture is crying. It outraged the Catholic League, as their president press-released the episode, saying it unfairly picked on Catholics.

"I understand everybody has their beliefs, and they want to stand up for what they believe in," Hines says. "It's a free world. You can do whatever you want. But you don't have to tune in if you don't like it."

Another running humor line in this season's show?

A character, Loretta Black, played by Vivica A. Fox, having cancer and needing help from David.
