The killer known only as Kim stabbed his former teacher Song, 58, outside his house in Seoul for punishing him over a test 21 years previously. Kim, 37, had been accused of cheating in a test in 1987 by Song, who Kim claims then beat him severely.

Unemployed Kim had previously demanded an apology, visiting Song's school several times since January this year and threatening to harm him if he did not comply. The threats made Song move to his mother's house and had only returned to his own home to collect clothes.

Upon his return Kim confronted him and stabbed him to death, later telling police he was angered that Song would not apologise.
