Capcom's sequel to the NES classic Bionic Commando calls on hero Nathan "Rad" Spencer for another call of duty, this time to save the crumbling Ascension City from terrorists. Once you get into the swing of things, the game really takes off, as using your bionic arm to swing through jungle-like city, hurling heavy objects and taking out baddies with an assortment of precision weapons is a blast.
This is, however, only after you wade through the game's messy first half. Controls take some getting used to, the first mission's graphics fail to impress and the predictably goofy story takes itself a bit too seriously.
Multiplayer options are standard fare (deathmatch, capture-the-flag), but focus almost exclusively on your ability to wind your way through the environment with the bionic arm. If you dig the swinging and master the controls, you might find this sequel worthy of its legendary name. Other players, however, will discover a linear game banking on a gimmick.
Our final Score: 6/10 (Mediocre)
