At a Square Enix press conference today at E3, the company addressed the issue of Final Fantasy XIV's exclusively. While it was announced during the Sony press conference as a console exclusive to PS3, Square Enix senior VP Shinji Hashimoto refuted that level of finality.
"We are considering all options at this time," Square Enix senior VP Shinji Hashimoto stated, adding that the Xbox 360 is not off the table.
Square said that a direct port of Final Fantasy XI would have taken too much time, so instead the company decided to do a new game. The company hopes to accommodate all types of MMO gamers with Final Fantasy XIV. "If you want to play in a solo, you can play solo. If you want to play 40 minutes in a day, you can play 40 minutes in a day. If you want to play all day, you can play all day," Hashimoto said via a translator. "We are trying to implement a lot of new systems other MMOs haven't used in the past."
