On the conference call today following Activision Blizzard's fiscal results, the publisher briefly talked about the successful launch of its Guitar Hero World Tour.
CEO Bobby Kotick revealed that the new game's GHTunes feature, which enables users to create and share their own music, has already led to the creation of 25,000 songs. He also said he thinks this figure could grow to as large as 100,000 songs by the end of this year, once Guitar Hero World Tour makes its run through the holiday shopping season.
Interestingly, Kotick then noted that Guitar Hero and its user-generated songs could "represent the newest subscription opportunity." Obviously, Activision Blizzard's biggest subscription business is World of Warcraft, which has over 11 million subscribers worldwide.
