Speaking to the Great Falls Tribune, Neversoft co-founder and president Joel Jewett talked at length about his young life growing up in Montana. Much of his youth was shaped by skateboarding, though he was also a highly successfully and driven student. Neversoft struggled until it really hit it big with Tony Hawk Pro Skater, though the company has more recently focused on RedOctane's Guitar Hero franchise.
Jewett confirmed that games like the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica will be the company's focus going forward, with Tony Hawk responsibilities falling to another developer. "It's probably best for the franchise ... it's time for someone else to add fresh ideas to it," said Jewett.
The Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise was put on hold after Electronic Arts' new title Skate managed to outperform Tony Hawk's Proving Ground at retail. The latest game in the series, Tony Hawk's Adrenaline, is currently being made by an unknown developer.
