Speaking to MTV's Multiplayer, Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi confirmed that the demo for Resident Evil 5 has been downloaded over 4 million times. Previously, it had been confirmed that Xbox Live subscribers had downloaded the demo 1.3 million times in the first three days. Over the course of the first week of availability, the demo was downloaded 1.8 million times on Xbox Live.
The combined 4 million total adds in the downloads from the PlayStation Network. The demo was released on Xbox Live late in January, slightly before it was available on the PSN Store early in February.
It was confirmed yesterday that Takeuchi's new project will be Lost Planet 2.
