Back in the 90s, Capcom went Street Fighter crazy, launching multiple sequels and spin-offs to its hit franchise. After Street Fighter II, there was Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha and probably 25 other games we don't remember. There came a point when we just didn't care about Ryu and his antics.
That said, colour us a bit concerned with today's official announcement of Super Street Fighter IV. Available Spring 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3, this "ultimate vision" of Street Fighter includes the previous game's 25 characters, as well as old favorites (T. Hawk) and new faces like the female combatant, Juri. In addition, the game has new Ultra Combos and refined online matchmaking.
Since Street Fighter IV will have debuted over a year ago, this update may find an audience. We just hope Super Street Fighter IV Turbo doesn't show up.
