East meets west with Alexandra Nea

Alexandra Nea's designs are feminine with a directional twist. She enjoys using natural fibers due to their superior qualities and feel against the skin. Within her designs runs the constant shadowed theme of east meets west as her signature style is often flirting with the sensuous nature of the orient, be it in print, silhouette or colour mixing.

Alexandra Nea Graham is the designer behind the label. She graduated from The Design Studio, East Sydney Technical College in 2002 after receiving critical acclaim for her collections. During her three years at East Sydney, Alexandra was fortunate to undertake work placement in Paris during 2001, at the Fashion House Atelier Narakas under the direction of Michael Gregory and Alexon Narakas.

The Alexandra Nea label produced five collections from 2003 to 2005, all of which were shown as part of MAFW Ready-to-Wear group shows. Alexandra Nea developed a loyal following with a number of high profile stockists including Selfridges & Co. and Coco Ribbon in the UK as well as Elizabeth Charles NY and local favourite Cactus Jam Melbourne.

The label was put on hold, as an opportunity had come up for Alexandra to move to London where she worked as a womenswear designer for London label Ted Baker. On her return to Australia in 2007, Alexandra worked two seasons as the senior designer at Collette Dinnigan, helping to create the Summer 2008 and Winter 2008 collections.

The Alexandra Nea label will be relaunched as part of a Ready to Wear group show during the RAFW 2008 Spring Summer Collections.
