In the world of Eileen Kirby, fashion should be based on fun, dressing up, and making women look and feel good.
"Clothes make a statement, and when they make you feel pretty and sexy, the result says it all" says Kirby. This statement pretty well sums up the designs of Eileen Kirby.
After completing design courses at East Sydney Tech, Eileen landed design opportunities, via a number of major fashion parades. As her reputation spread from clients to buyers, Eileen Kirby Evening Wear was created. 15 years later her designs are found throughout Australia, and Asia.
In 2001 the catwalk of Australian Fashion Week was graced by the designs of Eileen Kirby with her new young and directional label "Kirby Purrs". This has culminated with Kirby Purrs being invited back for each year since. Eileen's vision for the label has always been to design and manufacture fashion that is original, with an essence of fun striving to be original, totally creative and to stand alone in style. Since the start of Kirby Purrs it has developed a strong underground following.
With her inspiration coming from "the street", and from seeing people enjoying clothes, the mixture of colours and textures form an integral part of Kirby's range.
"When you're sketching an outfit, it's the feeling you have for the design, the feeling you have for what it might be, that's what I'm looking for."
This approach is obviously proving successful as Eileen Kirby's designs continue to be seen at opening nights and on the catwalk.
