Growing up amongst the hay bales and dirt roads of rural Australia is a long way from the fashion epicenter of London where designer Megan Park made her name.
Megan’s tomboy upbringing couldn’t hold back an interest in ballet that led to a love for costume with all its intricacy and embellishment. After completing a fashion degree and starting out as a textile designer in Melbourne, she moved to London and began designing textiles for a well-respected agency whose clients include Givenchy, Dries van Noten and Kenzo. In 1997 she launched her eponymous range of hand beaded and embroidered accessories and this has grown to embrace womenswear, 0-6yo girlswear and homewares.
Megan travels extensively in India and works with artisans in Delhi to produce the intricate hand-worked garments. These exquisite designs are highly sought-after and have graced Hollywood stars such as Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Iman, Kate Hudson and Julia Roberts.
We asked Megan about her style, likes and loves, in a quick interview...

Your style…
I design for a woman who is not dictated to by the fads of fashion, a woman with her own sense of style. She is contemporary, feminine, a woman who appreciates the integrity of what she wears and the story behind it.
This season's highlights
Beautiful prints and rich metallic embroideries adorn this winter collection. A colour palette of stone, mushroom, smoky lilac and dove greys complement darker shades of navy, claret & black. Six different stories work together, creating a diverse inspiring range from day through to evening wear.
What are you most renowned for?
Unknowingly wearing traditional Indian undergarments to a formal high society Indian wedding – the ladies thought it charming if not a bit peculiar!
What are two of your favourite things about winter?
A pure pashmina wrap that can be worn day and night, and cosying up in front of an open fire with a glass of red and plate of coq au vin.
Tell us two of the designers you admire (or design eras). Doesn't have to be fashion-related.
Richard Neutra – how fabulous would it be to live in one of his houses! And on the fashion front Christobel Balenciaga and Christian Dior.
Is there something you absolutely can't live without…
My twin babies and of course their dad.
