While Moon may have sculpted, rippling muscles and an enviable six-pack, he has a medical record that makes you wonder how he gets out of bed in the morning. In addition to overcoming polio, Moon has had open-heart surgery and prostate problems, reports Reuters. He was once a millionaire restaurant owner who came to financial ruin and lost everything--except his will to go on. "I was unfortunate enough to hit a financial hurdle and it left me with no money so I needed something to get my head together," he told Reuters. "So I started working out with the owner of the gym who was a former Mr. Universe."
About his win in Australia, Moon said, "I usually go in the "over 70s" but they cut it out, so I was up against younger men," Moon told Reuters. He was up to the challenge. In addition to a strict, high-protein diet, he has a 5-day-a-week training program that involves two hours of exercises and cardio. He also walks several miles a day on the treadmill. Moon hopes to inspired other elderly people to become more active. "I've always had a positive attitude well before I went broke, but it certainly helps when you've got no money and you've got to start again," he told Reuters. "It makes a big difference."
