Melanie Cutfield, the brand, came to fruition in 2004, the realisation of a life long ambition that began as an eleven year old girl. Working across various roles in design, pattern making, fabric buying, manufacturing and retail in the international cities of Auckland, London, Dublin and Sydney, Cutfield was able to garner her commercial and technical knowledge in preparation for her own label. Training at the London College of Fashion further cemented her industry prowess.
Now Cutfield’s designs adorn the stylish and the confident female. Delicate and sophisticated by day, sleek and seductive by night, her designs possess a duality seldom inhabited by contemporary female fashion.
After a dark and brooding winter, Melanie Cutfield's Spring Summer has emerged in new luxury lightness with subtle feminine silhouettes to feature on the catwalk. Taking inspiration from 'High Summer in Old Hollywood' during the 1950s, soft, romantic and flowing dresses encounter structure via nipped in belts and retro tailoring to enhance a woman's best assets. Slippery metallic knit blends in mocha, steel and ink are betrayed by lip stained poppy-red and watermelon flounce dresses. Neutral whites and vaporous greys part to reveal show piece Swarovski encrusted evening dresses. Pretty sequined slips, matte retro pinafores and vintage vests empower tomboy chic. Melanie's signature classic pant announces the arrival of modern classics in a range of spring carnival shades using cool cotton and lightweight linen for breath ability and an effortless transition from work to play.
