Strangest Photo of a Dog You'll See Today

01-08-2008 - 02:32
When three newborn white tiger cubs were abandoned by their mother at the Safari Zoological Park near Caney, Kansas, owner Tom Harvey enlisted the help of a dog. Isabella, a golden retriever, is now successfully nursing the cubs, who were born on July 27. Their mother stopped caring for them a day later.

Here's the strangest photo of a dog you'll see all day! A golden retriever is nursing three white tiger cubs. Keep clicking for more fun photos, including a six-legged fawn, police-trained dog wears boxing gloves and a shihtzu jumping a hurdle.

At just a day old, the three rare white tiger cubs were wandering around, looking for their mama who would pay no attention to them. That's when Isabella came to the rescue. Harvey told The Associated Press that it's unusual for a dog to care for tiger cubs, but not unheard of. He said that in China, even pigs have nursed tiger cubs. Dogs are a better substitute since tiger cubs take about the same amount of time to develop as do puppies. Isabella just recently weaned her own pups, so the timing was excellent. Isabella doesn't seem to know the difference. Harvey says she licks, cleans and feeds the cubs as if they were her own.

Don't be confused, but do be forewarned: This guinea pig photo gallery is gross and disgusting! While some photos show guinea pigs dressed up in a fashion competition for the annual Peruvian guinea pig festival, other photos show them cooked up for dinner.

Open since 1989, the Safari Zoological Park specializes in caring for endangered species. Among the animals that live there are leopards, lions, cougars, baboons, ring-tailed lemurs, bears and other animals. It currently has seven white tigers and two orange tigers, reports AP. Since white tigers are inbred from the first specimen found more than 50 years ago, they are not as genetically stable as orange tigers.
