The Top 10 Colors for Spring Clothes
They have fancy names, such as raspberry ice and green sheen, but the trend for spring 2007 is the same: bold, bright colors. Think the basic Crayola crayons box.

The opposite also holds true. When you're not wearing electric blue, shimmering green, vibrant pink or bright yellow, think white or silver. It is striking color and not ornamentation that defines spring, according to Sally Singer, Vogue's fashion news director. "I'd invest in one azure blue thing," Singer told The Associated Press. "It looks good on every skin tone and hair color."

If you're feeling timid about flaunting such Day-Glo colors, Singer advises doing it in a more subtle way, such as with green or yellow shoes.

Call it a pop of color. Pantone, the color research and information center, has released its list of the top 10 colors for spring 2007:

  • Silver Peony
  • Tarragon
  • Opal Gray
  • Golden Apricot
  • Hollyhock
  • Green Sheen
  • Grapemist
  • Café Crème
  • Strawberry Ice
  • Sky Blue

Francisco Costa, creative director for Calvin Klein Collection, told AP that he thinks bright yellow is a very straightforward color and ideal for spring. "I just wanted something to be energetic," he said of his spring collection where yellow dominates. "Yellow is a given for that. It's fresh, it's bright, it's eccentric. Also, being a primary color, I thought that was cool, too. I like colors in their primary form."

He also likes shades of white. "We don't use neutrals for the sake of being minimal, but they're easy to work with," Costa explained to AP. "The use of color here, there's a practicality to it. A neutral palette is very calming." He said when clothes have an interesting shape, too many colors can be distracting. "I like to isolate an element--the stones, grays and whites, everything is back to nature, space and clean air, light and sun."

No matter what the designers are showing, you should buy clothes in colors that look good on you. Consider your personal palette: the color of your eyes, hair and skin tone. Find the colors that make your eyes twinkle and give your skin a natural glow.

According to ColorConnections.com, your best colors will not only make you excited about how you look, but also make you look healthy and young. And that is bound to get you compliments!
