The surprising no. 1 baby lullaby
Forget Brahms or "Rock-a-Bye Baby." Moms are singing pop and rock tunes to their babies to soothe them to sleep, and the No. 1 song in today's nurseries is "Patience" by Take That. That's the word from a survey of 2,000 moms conducted by The Baby Website.

Nearly two-thirds of the mothers said rock and pop was better for getting babies to sleep than traditional lullabies. Why? It appears moms are greatly influenced by the music they listen to during the day. "We were really surprised to find that mums would rather sing modern pop tunes than traditional lullabies," The Baby Website spokeswoman Kathryn Crawford told the BBC News. "I expect most mums put the radio on when at home with the baby, and the catchy lyrics make it impossible to sing anything else at bedtime."

Coming in right behind "Patience" for chart-topping rights in the nursery are "Angels" by Robbie Williams, "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry and "Wonderwall" by Oasis.

Fun facts to know and tell:

-- 13 percent of mothers think lullabies are too old-fashioned to sing to their baby.
-- 10 percent say they don't sing traditional lullabies because they can't remember the words.
-- Nearly half of mothers sing to their little one when their baby is upset.
-- 33 percent of mothers always lull their baby to sleep with a song.
