A 29-year-old man was arrested about 5 minutes after allegedly stealing a police car and driving drunk. Spokeswoman Glynda Chu said an officer on patrol shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday was flagged down by a man who said something suspicious was going on at a nearby bar. Chu said the officer got out of the car to investigate and the man jumped in and sped away.
The man was arrested outside a fast food restaurant about three miles away where the patrol car rolled over a curb and a stop sign.
Chu said dispatchers were able to track the car with a locator device inside it.
The officer's name hasn't been released. Chu said the car has only minimal damage.
