The 'Cold Shoulder' singer doubts whether she will ever pen any upbeat or cheerful material because she is always "too busy" when she's feeling happy.
She said: "I haven't got time to write songs when I'm happy as I'm out having fun. It's when I'm threatening to kill myself I write. You probably won't hear a happy song from me, ever."
Adele, 20, also defended herself against critics who say she is too young to be singing about heartbreak.
She added to Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "If people think that I shouldn't be writing about that then they can f**k off and don't listen to my music. I think a lot of people think, 'Oh she's only 20 what does she think she's writing about?' but I bet my relationship with the boy the album is about was a lot deeper than a lot of 40-year-olds. People are naive if they say that about a young person. The relationship was deep and I wanted to write about that."
Adele's debut single, 'Chasing Pavements' reached number two in the UK singles chart in January when the singer was just 19.
