The "What (Healthy) Women Want" survey of more than 2,000 women ages 20 and older by Prevention magazine came to a number of stunning conclusions: Age 40 is the new fabulous. Most women believe that being older means being happier. But beware! Interest in sex nosedives after 40.
What Women Want
- Women under 50 want to spend more time with their husbands.
- Once women hit 50, what they want most is to take care of their personal health. (Sorry, guys!)
- Once women celebrate their 40th birthday, their interest in sex dramatically declines.
- Women in their 30s begin to develop an active spiritual life, something women see as integral to their good health by the time they hit their 50s and 60s.
The State of Women's Health
- 67 percent said happiness is the most important aspect of overall good health, followed by their level of stress, body weight, energy level and relationship with their spouse or significant other.
- Women younger than 40 gave high marks to their health.
- Women older than 40 found their emotional and mental health became more robust, peaking in their 60s.
- Forced to reveal one or the other, fully 85 percent of women would rather reveal their age than their weight.
- 73 percent never lie about their age.
- When women do lie about their age, they typically shave off four years.
Women's Big Goal: Lose Weight
- 56 percent of women are overweight or obese.
- 86 percent of women who are dieting are doing it alone.
- Women say they would like to lose, on average, 41 pounds.
- 74 percent would choose to take $1 million instead of being their perfect weight forever.
- 58 percent would rather be 10 pounds thinner than look 10 years younger.
