Merv Jones had piled his house from floor to ceiling in every room with rubbish and various items he had collected over decades. Amongst the items cleared were a reported six dog skeletons, old rifles, ammunition and swords as well as many more common items such as dolls, electrical equipment, toys, pictures, books and ornaments. Much of Jones' collection was decomposing, and pigeons had taken over his loft.
Local authority workers in the city of Grimsby went to clear the house after complaints from neighbours, and removing numerous skips full of rubble.Jones was living in the house when the council came to clear it and will subsequently have to reimburse the cleaning costs.
