Police say a suspected suicide car bomb has killed four civilians in western Afghanistan.
Police official Abdul Shuqur says the sports utility vehicle exploded at a market in the town of Shindand on Monday afternoon.
Shuqur says witnesses told him that seconds before the blast the vehicle approached a convoy of foreign troops and that the troops opened fire on it.
He says 12 other people were wounded.
