Rajini Narayan, 44, lit husband Satish’s genitals after believing he was having an affair.
She reportedly told neighbours: "I'm a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me. I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else.”
Adelaide Magistrates Court heard how Narayan doused her husband’s genitals with methylated spirit then light them.
Satish - who was asleep at the time - knocked over the bottle of spirit as awoke and jumped out of bed, causing worse burns.
Narayan was originally charged with endangering life and arson offences, but is now likely to face murder charges after Satish finally succumbed to his injuries.
The fire caused $1 million of damage to property.
