Thousands of Austrians have gathered for the funeral of divisive far-right politician Joerg Haider who was denounced as a Nazi-sympathiser in the 1990s.
Austria's president and chancellor were among the mourners at the funeral in Klagenfurt, the capital of the southern province of Carinthia where Haider was governor.
Haider, 58, died Oct. 11 when the car he was driving at twice the speed limit veered off a road, crashed and flipped. He was drunk at the time.
The funeral includes a procession, a ceremony at a public square and a memorial service. Haider's body will then be cremated and the ashes later buried in private.
