Police on Tuesday detained a man suspected of killing eight members of his family, including three children, in southern Turkey.
Police discovered the eight family members shot dead in an apartment they shared in the city of Adana on Tuesday after workers at a health clinic became worried about a nurse who had not showed up for work.
The victims were her parents, her three children, her brother and his wife.
Police questioned and later detained the nurse's other brother as the suspect for the killings and seized a gun, Adana Gov. Ilhan Atis said.
The motive for the killings was being investigated.
Officials said earlier police was investigating the possibility of an "honor killing" in which women are killed by family members for alleged immoral behavior and tarnishing the family honor.
