The British and Irish Lions announced five changes to the starting lineup for Saturday's second test against South Africa at Pretoria including two to make an all Welsh front row.

Prop Adam Jones and hooker Matthew Rees will start against the Springboks, having gone on as replacements in the second half of the first test after the front row was given a mauling in Durban. They will start alongside countryman Gethin Jenkins.

In the lineup announced on Thursday, veteran lock Simon Shaw comes into the second row, Luke Fitzgerald is on the wing instead of Ugo Monye and Rob Kearney will play at fullback because of an injury to Lee Byrne.

Trailing 1-0 in the three-match series after losing 26-21 at Durban, the Lions need to win at altitude at Loftus Versfeld to level the series and then go into a decider in Johannesburg July 4.

Heavyweight England loosehead prop Andrew Sheridan, who was not considered for the first test and has been struggling to get over a back injury, gets a place on the bench and so does Wales winger Shane Williams, the IRB world player of the year for 2008 who has struggled for form on this tour.

Two more England players, Lee Mears and Phil Vickery are dropped entirely for this test after being given a tough time by South Africa prop Tendai "Beast" Mtawariri on Saturday. After the Lions made the front row changes at Kings Park, they hit back strongly in the second half with Rees and Jones in the front row and reduced the Springboks lead from 26-7 to just five points at the finish.

Shaw, another England star who toured South Africa with the successful 1997 Lions _ although he did not play a test match _ replaces Welshman Alun-Wyn Jones, who drops to the bench. This will be Shaw's first test in his third Lions tour.

Scrumhalf Harry Ellis and Ireland's Ronan O'Gara are again the backup halfbacks with no place for James Hook.
