An uncle of the late Australian actor Heath Ledger was ordered Thursday to appear in court in September on charges of receiving stolen machinery.
Haydn Charles Ledger, 53, appeared briefly in a magistrates court on Thursday in the family's west coast home town of Perth charged with two counts of receiving stolen goods.
Defense attorney Larina Giudice reaffirmed a plea of not guilty to the charges, which allege Ledger was caught in possession of three stolen tractors, worth more than $100,000, in July last year. He faces a a potential 14-year prison term if convicted.
Another man has been charged with stealing the machines.
Haydn Ledger was ordered to appear in the Western Australian state District Court on Sept. 4 when a trial date will be set.
He declined to comment to the media after his court appearance.
Ledger is a brother of Heath Ledger's father, Kim. The acclaimed actor died of an accidental drug overdose in New York last year at the age of 28.
