Wall Street tumbled again Wednesday as investors worried that the global economy is poised to weaken even as parts of the credit market slowly show signs of recovery. The major indexes fell more than 4 percent, including the Dow Jones industrial average, which fell 514 points.
The Dow Jones industrials fell 514.45, or 5.69 percent, to 8,519.21.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 58.27, or 6.10 percent, to 896.78.
The Nasdaq composite index fell 80.93, or 4.77 percent, to 1,615.75.

The Dow is down 333.01, or 3.76 percent.
The S&P is down 43.77, or 4.65 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 95.54, or 5.58 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is down 4,745.61, or 35.78 percent.
The S&P is down 571.58, or 38.93 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 1,036.53, or 39.08 percent.
