At a prestigious national awards event held in Melbourne, ECO Car magazine has named the new Hyundai i30cw wagon CRDi 2009 'ECO Car of the Year'.
The new i30cw wagon is the latest addition to the i30 range, joining the multi-award winning i30 hatch. The CRDi turbo Diesel engine (when mated to the 5 speed manual transmission) achieves an impressive fuel consumption* rating of 4.9 litres / 100 km and 128 g / km of CO2 ensuring most owners will visit the fuel bowser less often than they might expect.
"The Hyundai i30cw CRDi is a delightful wagon to drive with great on road performance yet it provides a family with an ideal crossover vehicle. It can be used for daily commuting or family outings at the weekend with equal efficiency," said Managing Editor and Publisher of ECO Car magazine Mr. Chris Mullett. "High levels of driver and passenger protection; low emissions, spirited performance and outstanding fuel efficiency at an affordable price make the i30cw the right car for today's motoring."
In April the multi-award winning i30 range was Australia's third best selling small car with an 11% market share after posting a sales result of 1,491 cars (including 235 new i30cw wagons).
"The new fuel efficient i30cw wagon offers a more space for rear seat passengers and additional luggage capacity than its multi-award winning sister the i30 hatch" commented Kevin McCann Hyundai's Director of Sales and Marketing. "We are delighted that the i30 range is continuing to win recognition as well as attracting new customers to our Dealerships."
The Getz was also recognised in the awards, achieving a 'Highly Commended' status in the ECO Car of the Year Awards programme. The Getz provides exceptional value for money and is a firm favourite for its award winning low cost of ownership as well as its reliability and fuel efficiency* (6.1 litres / 100 km when mated to the 5 speed manual transmission) and CO2 emissions (145 g / km).
"The contest this year has never been more intense," Mr. Mullett concluded.
Hyundai Motor Company's i30 range has now picked up eight significant Australian motoring awards to date, as well as a string of international acclaim.
