Ireland has reported its first swine flu death.
Ireland's deputy chief medical officer Dr. John Devlin announced that a woman who contracted the virus died Friday in a Dublin hospital.
The Health Department identified the victim as a young Irishwoman from western Ireland "with serious underlying medical problems." It declined to provide any other details, citing family wishes for privacy.
Eighteen others are hospitalized in Ireland with swine flu.
