The wife of an Israeli man injured in a Palestinian suicide bombing in 2002 says he has died of his wounds.

Hili Shiran says her husband, Shimon, will be buried Sunday, seven years after the bombing at the Matza restaurant in the northern city of Haifa.

The couple were in the restaurant with their 17-year-old daughter Adi when the bomber struck. Adi Shiran was killed and her parents were wounded. Shiran told Army Radio her husband was incapacitated by the explosion and never recovered.

The death toll from the bombing now stands at 16, according to the Web site of the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, which came at the height of a wave of Palestinian suicide bombings inside Israel.
