German investigators say a suspected member of an Italian organized crime group has been arrested in Frankfurt.
The Federal Criminal Police Office says the 37-year-old man, whom it identifies only as Fabio P., was arrested early Thursday.
A statement from the office Friday says that the man is suspected of participating in several killings and is believed to have been in Germany since 2008. It gave no details of the killings.
The German office says Fabio P.'s detention was linked to the simultaneous arrests in Italy of several other suspected members of the 'ndrangheta group.
Some investigators say the 'ndrangheta _ a crime syndicate based in Italy's southern Calabria region _ is now more powerful than the Sicilian Mafia.
