Greek authorities say an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude 5.4 has struck off the western resort island of Zakynthos.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute says the quake occurred at 11:51 a.m. (0951GMT) Wednesday in the sea southwest of Zakynthos, some 190 miles (300 kilometers) west of Athens.

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit the same area a week ago, without causing damage or injuries.
