A British millionaire politician has been forced into an embarrassing apology after being caught complaining about his salary in secretly-taped video.
The video comes after a scandal over lavish expenses claimed by British lawmakers shook the country's political classes. It led to several high-profile resignations and prompted promises from Britain's leaders that they would change their ways.
But Conservative lawmaker Alan Duncan does not appear to have been chastened by scandal.
In remarks broadcast Wednesday the dapper Tory politician said lawmakers had effectively been forced to live on rations after the uproar.
British lawmakers make more than 64,000 pounds ($106,000) a year in addition to their expenses.
