A mother found unconscious beside her dead twin babies has been charged with two counts of murder.
RitaAriyaratnam, 30, was charged by detectives with two counts of murderduring a bedside hearing in Royal Perth Hospital today, policespokesman Greg Lambert said.
"Major crime squadhave today interviewed and charged the 30-year-old mother with twocharges of murder,'' Sergeant Lambert said.
The woman was found alongside her seven-month-old babies in the family's Perth home on Monday.
Thechildren's father, Selvin Ariyaratnam, found the trio when he arrivedhome but the twins were pronounced dead on arrival at Princess MargaretHospital.
Ms Ariyaratnam, who was hospitalised in acritical condition after the incident, awoke from a coma and was movedfrom the intensive care unit to a general ward after her conditionstabilised yesterday.
Detectives were called to the couple's house at the end of the Cloverdale cul-de-sac about 3.30pm on Monday.
