About 100 Uighurs protested on Tuesday outside the Chinese Embassy in Oslo, demanding an end to the violence in western China.
Two people were injured in the protest _ one while trying to scale the embassy fence _ and 11 demonstrators were detained, according to Oslo police spokesman Oystein Roraas.
He said those detained would not face charges and would immediately be released.
Congregating just outside the embassy gate, protesters waved the Uighur national flag and shouted slogans such as "Stop killing our brothers _ stop killing our sisters."
A few cried as they recalled the mayhem in their native Xinjiang province in China, where in recent days at least 156 people have died and more than 1,400 arrested in clashes between ethnic Uighurs and Han Chinese.
"We want them (the Chinese government) to stop killing us. We want democracy. We want China out of our homeland," said Fareda Yussudov, an ethnic Uighur.
Police in full riot gear stood between the crowd and the main entrance of the Chinese Embassy. They asked protesters to move away from the building, and eventually the protesters complied, although not without some pushing and minor scuffles.
The Chinese embassy could not be reached for comment.
