Police say a customs officer at Frankfurt Airport injured his hand when a package exploded while en route through the mail.
Police spokesman Juergen Lincker says the officer was conducting a standard check of the package at the post office's airport station when it went off. The officer was not identified. He suffered burns and cuts on his hand.
Police are investigating. They did not give any information about where the package had originated or where it was going. It has since been destroyed.
An airport spokesman says Monday's incident did not have any impact on air traffic.
