KEY RESULTS: McDonald's Corp. swung to a second-quarter profit, helped by strong worldwide sales and a gain from selling its stake in sandwich chain Pret A Manger. Revenue rose 4 percent overall.
SAME-STORE SALES: Sales at stores open at least a year rose 6.1 percent globally and 3.4 percent in the U.S.
NEW PRODUCT PERFORMANCE: McDonald's said its new fried chicken sandwiches at breakfast and lunch helped boost sales and its specialty coffee beverages are performing ahead of expectations so far.
