The mother of a 33-year-old woman shot to death while working at a kiosk in the Fort Lewis Post Exchange says the man who killed her daughter was a former boyfriend.

Rose Braggs told KING-5 News that her daughter, Sharlona White of Tacoma, feared the man because he had threatened to hurt her and himself after the couple broke up.

Fort Lewis on Thursday formally identified the dead in Wednesday's shooting as White and 59-year-old Lafayette C. Meminger of Lakewood. Meminger shot the woman, then turned the gun on himself. He died later in a hospital.

Braggs says White leaves two children, ages 10 and 14.

Meminger, a retired sergeant first class, left the Army in 1992.
