The Independent Commission Against Corruption has found former Sydney Ferries chief executive Rear Admiral Geoffrey Smith acted corruptly in misusing a corporate credit card for $237,000 of personal spending.
As a result, the anti-corruption watchdog wants the Director of Public Prosecutions to pursue Mr Smith for misconduct in a public office as well as offences under the State Owned Corporations Act.
The ICAC has also recommended the DPP pursue former Sydney Ferries chief financial officer Vincenzo Rossello for giving false or misleading evidence during the ICAC investigation.
The ICAC found that, between September 2006 and March 2009, Mr Smith charged $237,102 of personal expenses to his Sydney Ferries corporate credit card.
"He did so knowing that he was not entitled to use the card to incur personal expenses and that its use was restricted to Sydney Ferries business expenses," the ICAC said.
The ICAC has also made a series of recommendations to Sydney Ferries for internal changes so that similar cases cannot occur again.
The allegations against Mr Smith emerged in March this year and he was sacked from his position in May.
