England team manager Martin Johnson drafted in Ayoola Erinle on Wednesday for his first international start as one of just three personnel changes for his team's final November test against New Zealand.
The Biarritz player will play out of position at inside center for Saturday's match in place of Shane Geraghty, with lock Simon Shaw returning after recovering from a foot injury and hard-tackling Joe Worsley in at blindside flanker.
Johnson resisted pressure to make wholesale changes to the side that was jeered for its dull and lackluster play in last week's 16-9 victory over Argentina.
"Let's not forget we won against Argentina, a fact that appears to have been lost," Johnson said. "We won against Argentina and dug ourselves out of a hole.
"I'd rather win a game and then get criticized for style afterwards. We were a bit conservative in the first half on Saturday. We fixed it, maybe later than we should have done, but we got the game won."
Geraghty, Louis Deacon and Tom Croft all drop to the bench, where they are joined by utility back Mathew Tait and fit-again prop David Wilson.
Johnson also made one positional change to the lineup, with Ugo Monye switching to the wing and Mark Cueto moving to fullback.
Sevens international Erinle is the most notable inclusion, having missed out on a place in England's 64-man elite squad but drafted in following injury to Mike Tindall.
The 29-year-old Nigerian-born back, who spent the majority of his career at outside center, made his debut as a replacement in this month's 18-9 defeat to Australia.
Erinle failed to win a regular place at Leicester and considered quitting last year when he went on loan to second-tier club Nottingham.
But like flyhalf Jonny Wilkinson and hooker Steve Thompson, his career has been rejuvenated by a move to France.
"My prospects of playing for England were a dream that had been and gone," Erinle said. "You try to hold onto it, but as time goes on it starts to fade away. When I went to Biarritz I just thought: 'At least I will be playing rugby and enjoying myself.'
"The Leicester coaches were apologetic about the fact I wasn't really given a chance and I had to make a decision. The opportunity came up at Biarritz and I took it with both hands."
