'Big Mike' - as the prisoner is affectionately know - protruded six inches either side of his bed, and couldn't fit onto the chair in his prison cell in Toronto.
Authorities had tried to move 205kg Mike - real name Michel Lapointe - to two other prisons, both of which had refused to take him.
Big Mike was handed a five year sentence in May this year for being a member of a drugs gang. He had served 25 months before his release. Prison authorities admitted prison conditions were "difficult" for Mike because of his health.
Mike said: "I'm going to have a proper bed and finally have a chair I can sit in."
