The revelation on eating flesh was relayed to Anthropologist Olga Ammann, who has conducted a study on the mystical island.

She quotes a cannibal saying: “The meat of white people smells too strongly and is too salty.”
According to Olga’s study, the cannibals say the Japanese taste second only to one other meat – that of their own women.

Although cannibalism has been banned in Papua New Guinea for over 50 years, it is reported some tribes still eat the flesh of those who have died. This is consistent with the prevalence of the Kuru illness in tribe members - which is associated with cannibalism.

Cracker manufacturer Ryvita has employed “odour control” specialists after the aroma from their new garlic and rosemary flavour cracker spread throughout the town during a period of high weather pressure.
