Kenenisa Bekele will use the 5,000 meters at July's London Grand Prix as his final race before the Olympic.
"I feel it is vital for me to win this as it would be a great boost for my confidence just before heading off to defend my Olympic 10K title," the Ethiopian runner said Thursday.
The Crystal Palace meet is Saturday, July 26, but Bekele has already ruled out a 5,000-10,000 double in Beijing.
On Sunday he is looking to break the 10,000 world record at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.
