French champion Bordeaux has signed goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso on a four-year contract from Toulouse.

The 27-year-old Carrasso's impressive displays helped Toulouse finish fourth last season, and he was called up to the French squad by coach Raymond Domenech.

Carrasso said: "I had the chance to come to a big club. At my age, it's important to take the next step."

He will replace the 36-year-old veteran Ulrich Rame, who won two French titles with Bordeaux.

Bordeaux plays in the Champions League next season.
