Hoffenheim signed Brazilian striker Luis Wellington de Sousa on Thursday, one week before its first season in the Bundesliga.
The promoted small-town club signed the 20-year-old striker from Clube Nautico to a five-year contract. Details of the deal were not given.
Wellington is Hoffenheim's second major signing, after defender Andreas Beck from Stuttgart.
The Bundesliga season kicks off next weekend.
