WNBA star Lauren Jackson led Australia to a 99-62 win over Olympic group rival Brazil on Monday in a tuneup for the Beijing Games.
Jackson, captain of the world champion Australians and last year's MVP in the WNBA with the Seattle Storm, scored 19 points and had seven rebounds.
She is aiming for gold at Beijing after taking silver in the last two Olympics, losing to the United States on each occasion.
Brazil held the Australians in the first quarter and were down by only three points at the break, but the home team outpointed their rivals 78-44 in the last three periods _ including a 20-0 run in the third.
Australia will need to finish atop its group in Beijing to avoid meeting the Americans in the semifinals.
Australia and Brazil will play again on Wednesday.
This is the first time the entire Australian squad has played together since the 2006 world titles and coach Jan Stirling said her team needed the hitout to start building some cohesion.
"For us right now, we just need games," Stirling said. "Given that we haven't had a lot of time together it's about getting into unison against high quality international competition."
