Stosur stays alive
Australia remains in the running for US Open silverware after Samantha Stosur teamed with American Lisa Raymond to reach the women's doubles final.

The partnership of Stosur and Raymond combined to defeat fourth seeds Katarina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama in straight sets at Flushing Meadows.

Stosur and Raymond, the 2005 champions, won 7-5 6-1.

They will now meet the winner of the second semi-final where Cara Black and Liezel Huber tackle Anabel Medina and Virginia Ruano.

Black has already tasted success after she and partner Leander Paes of India won the tournament's mixed doubles title. They downed Britain's Jamie Murray and Huber 7-6 (8/6) 6-4 in the final.

Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy have advanced to Saturday's US Open men's doubles final against local brothers Mike and Bob Bryan.
