After having produced a powerhouse performance in a pack that would have boosted the national grid had it been possible to make the connection, lock Brad Thorn will be missing for the second Tri Nations Test against South Africa in Dunedin at the weekend.
Cited to appear before Sanzar judicial officer Dennis Wheelahan QC in Wellington after the incident which saw South African hooker John Smit lifted across Thorn's shoulders and dropped to the ground, Thorn was given a one match suspension.
He admitted the offence which was regarded as foul play although Wheelahan said the incident was more an act contrary to good sportsmanship than a dangerous tackle.
Thorn was represented by Stephen Cottrell and supported by All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen at the hearing.
Wheelahan reviewed and amended the original citing complaint at the hearing.
