The Letterman of the 'Law' is coming to the small screen.
An upcoming episode of NBC's 'Law & Order' will feature a "ripped from the headlines" take on the David Letterman sex scandal -- but with a few notable changes.
Letterman will be represented by a female TV host in her late 30s or 40s who is married with children. She's also a lesbian or bisexual (not that there's anything wrong with that), according to a casting breakdown reported in the Wrap.
"Over the course of a few years, she has had a series of short-lived affairs with some of the employees on the show and up until now has managed to keep them off the radar,'' the casting report says. "Now, she has been approached by a blackmailer who threatens to expose private photos and emails of hers unless she pays $3 million."
One other important detail: The Letterman figure is also the host of a daily talk show, featuring a panel of women. In other words: it's Letterman meets 'The View' (the 'Law & Order' franchise wouldn't be taking another swipe at Elisabeth Hasselbeck, would they?)
On Oct. 1, Letterman announced on the 'Late Show' that he was being extorted by a CBS employee who threatened reveal that Letterman had sex with fellow female employees. Letterman later confirmed the accusations.
'Law & Order' is known for fictionalizing real-life headlines. Last month, the show ran an episode that reportedly featured characters based on reality stars Jon and Kate Gosselin, as well as 'Octomom' Nadya Suleman. The show is also planning to cover the Taconic Parkway tragedy, which has been the subject of controversy.
